Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian Fitzgerald (Jason Patric) have just been informed that their young daughter Kate (Sofia Vassilieva) has leukemia, and that she only has a few years to live. The doctor suggests to the parents that they try an unorthodox medical procedure of producing another child in a test-tube that would be a perfect match as a donor for Kate. Sara will try anything to save Kate, and they have a new baby Anna (Abigail Breslin) to be used as a donor for Kate. The first thing they use is blood from the umbilical cord for Kate. As years go on, the doctors must take bone marrow from Anna to give to Kate. At age 11, the next thing Anna must give to her sister is a kidney. Anna has had enough of all of these medical procedures, and she decides to sue her parents for medical emancipation and the right to decide how her body will be used. The whole family is being torn apart by Anna’s decision because everyone knows what will happen to Kate if she doesn’t get a new kidney.
Anna will hire a maverick lawyer, Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin), who would look only onto Anna’s interest, and nobody else’s. Anna has paid a small initial fee with the money she obtained at a pawn shop. The judge orders Anna’s parents not to pressure her at home anymore. Sara is the one who can’t take that anymore, and she doesn’t understand Anna at all.
The judgement goes on, and everybody has to take sides one way or another. Later on, the audience learns that the idea about emancipation was not Anna’s, in fact it was Kate, the always-sick one, who asked her to put a stop to her endless suffering.
After the judge DeSalvo (Joan Cusack) has given her veredict, Anna has a car accident right outside the hospital. She is beyond hope, and she had donated all her organs. She loses and dies so that her sister can make an almost miraculous recovery.

Long stretches of stupidity compounded by boredom. The lack of depth was astonishing. (Did they ever speak to ANYONE that witnessed the abduction?) James Van Der Beek’s career has apparently found his level, and perhaps he is at minute 14. The most intrigue in the whole mess were the clues our abductee would leave in her phone calls. But it only took once for LeVar Burton to say “play that back” to realize he was going to crack the code each time. If you didn’t see every event coming up the street, you are movie-impared. Unless you are forced at gunpoint (and even then, perhaps take a chance the gun isn’t loaded?), avoid this long, anti-climactic, poorly acted piece of drivel at all costs….

Truly this movie delivers what it promises. It starts with a bang (literally) and keeps the audience at the edge of their seats! I liked the fact they didn’t push any unnecessary songs into the movie. The acting was amazing. Neil Nitin Mukesh, John and even Katrina, did a fantastic performance. Hats off to Kabir Khan and Sandeep Srivastava for writing such a sensitive topic. I liked the fact that this movie wasn’t all “anti America”, nor was it to show sympathy for terrorists. The movie states the facts and shows each side of the issue. There weren’t any music nor song that really captivated much of my attention, it could’ve been much better. Overall, I would definitely recommend everyone to watch this movie for both the performances and of course the story.

Running mainly on the much hyped first — and, who knows, maybe only — cinematic tandem of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Comedy Queen Ai-Ai de las Alas, “BFF” (subtitled “Best Friends Forever” as if fearing its target audience wouldn’t know what the heck the tri-lettered acronym stands for) affords no glint of optimism to what could be a barrage of films created less for their narratives than a chance to pit two local film legends and/or tabloid fodder with one another. Essentially a female counterpart of the Dolphy-Vic Sotto-starred “Dobol Trobol”, Wenn Deramas’ put-down to slapstick cinema has not, save for a few chuckle-inducing skits, a single hilarious moment, though more frustratingly glaring is its corny comedic scenes punctuating every overly manipulative tearjerker with the imprecise rhythm of a trying-hard drummer.
A coincidence-laden plot sees Honey (Cuneta) as a wife to Tim (John Estrada) and a mother to three kids, but getting so dedicated to her latter role leads to neglect both to her weight and her husband’s emotional needs, a chance seen by Tim to fool around with the comparatively slimmer and radiant but otherwise none-too-lovable Frances (de las Alas), a single mother trying to raise her daughter who’s getting a little too chummy with her for comfort. Compounding an operatic plot is that Frances is actually Honey’s dance instructor whom she met at a gym and have regular chat sessions with, resulting to their blossoming (best-)friendship.

This is a movie about 4 guys without job, future or any kind of perspective. They spend their time on drinking, fighting, fanatically cheering for their local soccer club, lift shopping, stealing, drug smuggling, etc. So this movie shows how modern Croatian life becomes a copy of Western European countries. I like to say: That’s what we fought for! For not having a jobs, not having any security, not having a lot of things that generation before us has had. Well, I don’t want to sound nostalgic, but this movie shows to those who remember that we could do better (characters in the movie are too young to remember), much better. Now about movie itself.
